Expressions with different religious figures

Religion is an important element of our society and around the world. In the homes of many Christians, Catholics, Jews and Buddhists, there are figurines. These figures may be different from each other in some respects, but they may all express a common theme: the belief in God. These beliefs are expressed in different ways, and different people are honored for different reasons in these figures.

Christian Figurines

The most current figures which may be found in a Christian homemay represent the cross, the manger, Jesus, and angels. Jesus is the character most highly honored in the Christian faith, and often the image of the cross to be displayed as a remembrance of his death and resurrection. The crib includes baby Jesus, Mary, his mother, and her husband Joseph in a manger. Some will have more complete sets of wise men and animals. It is usually displayed at Christmas, when the birth of Jesuscelebrated.

Catholic Figurines

In a Catholic home, many of the same images in a Christian home may be found. Jesus is honored as well, and the Angels may also be displayed. Mary is honored, and therefore its figures, the addition of a nursery are frequent. Uniquely May figures represent the Catholic pope, nuns, saints, and Jesus crucified on the cross. (Christian Images of the cross without Jesus.)

Jewish Figurines

In a Jewish home, thereimages that are quite different. Commonly, the figures in a Jewish home have the Star of David engraved on them. Figures of a rabbi, a bar mitzvah boy or bat mitzvah girl may be displayed. All figures of men have shown a yamika head. The Jews do not recognize Jesus, so there would be no figures of him.

Buddhist Figurines

Figures of Buddha are common as well. There are various images of Buddha. Some show him as a man heavier, while othersshow him as a tall man. Most of the figurines of Buddha show him sitting with legs crossed and eyes closed in meditation.

Hindu Figurines

Figures of many Hindu gods can be found in Hindu temples in India. Most are high on Krishna, Radha, Jagganath, Caitanya, Rama, Vishnu, Lakshmi, and Shiva. Often, these figures are placed on an altar, sanctified, and loved every day.

Religious expression takes many forms. Decorating the house is just one way thatpeople express their faith in God. For Christians, Jesus is honored for Catholics, Mary is honored, and Moses for the Jews and God himself are honored. For Buddhists, the Buddha is honored.
